I've always said Eli will never sleep in bed with us. I don't have anything against bed sharing, I just didn't want to do it. Probably because I slept with my dad until I was 7. He got me out of the crib one night when I was sick and I would never sleep in my crib again. But after several nights of Eli waking up every 30 mins - an hour, I had to get some sleep! I wouldn't mind him sleeping with us so much if we had a king size bed. There just wasn't enough room and he burned me up!
Rules are made to be broken Seriously though, we have all reached the point where you do what you have to. As long as baby is safe, any rule can be broken. I brought our eldest into our bed often as he never slept. When he got to be age 2, we convertyed his crib into a full size bed. Some nights I would lay next to him to gt him to sleep but he used his own bed. It will work out in time.
I said this too, but broke it very early on. It was the only way I could get sleep. Then I decided he needed to sleep in the bassinet and then the crib and he wouldn't sleep peacefully in the bed with me anymore and I was sad because I wasn't getting sleep with him anywhere. Now he finally will sleep peacefully in the bed again, but not for a long time. I try to keep him in his crib most of the night and then bring him in the bed at 4 or 5 or 6. Just because I'm tired of getting up by that point and I always hope it will make him sleep. I would let him sleep anywhere if it meant he would actually sleep! You gotta do what you gotta do!
