We are going to our close family friends house as most of my family is not doing a Thanksgiving this year for some reason my grandmother who always does a diner (it's tradition) decided this year (when we all have little ones now) she's not doing any more Thanksgiving, Christmas eve diners which sucks. and I believe my parents are going up North to a camp we own for Thanksgiving so we decided to go to our friends house (they are older have 2 kids of their own that are teens) and we are going to ask them to be Lilly's Godparents
I'm so excited for Thanksgiving! We are hosting, but we're doing it at my parents'. We normally host here in Maine, but we just don't have the space for overnight guests so we'll go down to Mass for Wed-Sat or Sun and I'll cook the meal down there. It will just be us 4 and my parents- like usual. My bro and his GF go to her place, my in laws are all far away, and we actually use my parents normally going to Maine as an excuse for them to get a reprieve from my problematic grandparents.
So far I've got crudite and bacon wrapped, blue cheese stuffed dates for the appetizers; turkey, stuffing, cranberry sauce, Mom's yams, and some sort of potatoes for the main meal- need some more sides; and pumpkin whoopie pies with cream cheese frosting filling and a chocolate rum cheesecake for desserts! What's not to love about a food based holiday!
I am also thinking Mom and I will hit up Carter's later in the morning on Friday for some deals for the kids and my nephew. Otherwise, I hope to do all my shopping online!
We'll be celebrating Thanksgiving with my dad's family this coming Saturday. And our original plan for Thanksgiving was that my sister's family was coming to stay with us, and we'd be hosting dinner for all of my family. BUT...my sister's father in law recently passed away, so they are (understandably) going to spend Thanksgiving with her mother in law this year. So we really don't have set plans. We might travel to spend it with DH's brother's family, or we might stay home and still host dinner for the rest of my family. We haven't decided yet.
We are going to my parent's house a few hours away. Baby A is usually a really good traveller. I might shop friday afternoon but I am not getting up at the crack of dawn. I also have a wedding to attend saturday.
So...our plans changed again. My dad's family is not doing Thanksgiving this weekend after all. And we've decided not to travel to DH's brother's house. So, we'll be hosting dinner at our house on Thursday for my mom & my sister's family. I am so not prepared for it...and it will most likely be pretty low-key this year.
