My friends are adopting a baby. The baby is being delivered to their house in 1 month and will have just turned one at the time. They have had limited contact with this baby over the past month and the baby has never been to their house before. They have invited 30+ people to their house on the day the baby arrives for a welcome party. That seems crazy to me. I have a very social baby but I think even she would be overwhelmed in these circumstances. I am happy for them but, if it were me, I would probably wait at least a week or two before throwing the baby into that.
It does seem like it would be pretty overwhelming. I would probably wait and let things settle down before throwing a big party...but that's just me! Awesome, though, that they're adopting. Good for them!
