Thanks! It is super fun to watch. I know there are conflicting opinions about the importance of crawling but most say not to worry. Still makes me a little uneasy, but I can't force the kid to do it!He pretty much started cruising and taking the steps at the same time. His balance is getting really good too where he'll just stand there not holding onto anything for a long time. He's still not pulling up which makes me worry about the development of his arm muscles (again from the no crawling). I think I'll talk to the pedi about it.
How does he get himself into standing position if he isn't pulling up? Do you place him into position? Honestly, it sounds like he is doing just fine! Standing and walking take an enormous amount of balance and core stength! But if you are worried, it can't hurt to talk to the pedi.
Wow! That is awesome. He might go back to crawling at some point. Like while he plays. I bet he is just fine, I agree that it takes a lot of strength to stand independent and take steps. We aren't really close to steps here. She pulls up and cruises a lot. And will stand independently only if she is not thinking about it. But she only will take one step away from something and then just butt-plant or go to a knee. I prefer she hold off a bit anyway, I don't know how to deal with three running around!
Thanks ladies!!! He has just always done everything on his own time and in his own order. I will definitely bring it up at his 12 month appt. I'm so proud of the little guy, is it weird to be proud of an 11 month old haha?! He's just a crazy cool kid. There are so many days I wish we could all get our babies together and chat in real life. Ill keep dreaming!
That is great! And no, it's not weird at all to be proud of an 11 month old I have been proud of both of my boys from day one you have been saying for a while now that you thought Grady would skip crawling and go right to walking, right? I know many say that skipping crawling is concerning, but I am sure he is just fine. I think those that feel that way, maybe noticed many other big signs with their little ones that caused them to be concerned, and not crawling was just one of many. I have plenty of friends who have children that went right to walking, and some cousins who did also, and they are all perfectly fine. Like you said, Grady has his way of doing things, and that's that, lol. It must be so much fun watching him get the hang of it! I can remember holding my breath when DS1 started taking his first steps. So scary, amazing, exciting, and bittersweet at the same time. My......how time goes by..... I often think about how nice it would be for all of us to get together and chat I feel like I have to bite my tongue around here sometimes because if not i will go on and on about my boys, and I'm sure people think enough is enough. Anyway, Chase is starting to try to take some steps. He has been cruising for a while now. He pushes his high chair all over the house, like its a walker. He will also let go of whatever he is holding onto and just stand there for a while. It should be any day now that he will join the walking club with Grady! Go Grady!

Thanks Elly . Please don't ever bite your tongue..we love hearing about your boys and getting updates from you! Sounds like Grady and Chase are pretty much at the same walking stage. Can't wait to hear when he goes full force!
Thomas loves to stand and play at the train table, or cruise furniture, and sometimes he lets go of whatever he's holding onto and stands there for a minute before falling on his bum. not close to walking yet, though. my middle guy was walking by now and I have to say I am glad this one is taking things slow. I want my baby to be a baby as long as possible lol

Hey Melissa, if you want to encourage Grady to pull to stand himself - try putting some cool toys or even some crackers at the coffee table. Get him on his hands and knees near the coffee table first, and then support his waist and bring him up so he places his hands on the coffee table and is basically kneeling - and then gently lift him so he gets his legs into standing position. Does that make any sense?!!
