We haven't announced yet, but when we do I know conversation will immediately go to talk of names, at least with my family. I'm hoping DH and I can get a list of possibilities so we don't end up with my mother's favorite game: insane suggestions.
We like classic to the point of old-fashioned names. We have a tough Italian last name, so I want a first name with a common spelling. Ideally, we'd go with a family name, but it turns out there aren't many of those we like or that haven't been used in this generation... which isn't a dealbreaker for me, but it's tough for DH to feel like he's not stealing. Middle name will probably be Joseph, Francis, or Michael - though those are not in the running for first names.
With that all as background - what are your honest opinions on these? (You cannot hurt my feelings.) Thanks!
I love the name Silas. Especially with a middle name of Michael.Felix makes me think of the cartoon cat...honestly that's my first thought.
I had a quirky student one time named Quentin--a really neat kid. I had never heard of that name before that.
Just my two cents. Good luck with your decision!
I really like the name Silas! I had considered Quintin (with Quinn or Quincy for a nickname) for a while for our list, but my parent's have a neighbor with an extremely annoying boy named Quincy that ruined it for me.
This is great, thank you! I know some people don't like feedback on their name choices, but I find it really helpful to sort through how strongly I feel about a name, how much I do/don't like it. Thanks!

You are a much better person than I am. The names of people who rubbed me the wrong way as a kid are almost impossible for me to consider, and DH likes a lot of those names. I wouldn't mind using a name of either of one our exes, but the name of a mean kid from elementary school is right out.
