That i started buying stuff like diapers, wipes, onesies, and bottles. The baby's father told me not to yet. but i want to start preparing. Our relationship isnt the best and I don't want to depend on him or wait until the last minute. I figure each pay i can buy a few things here and there. I never know which side im going to get with him anyway. One day hes supportive. The next day he cant stand me. smh. Once i get my anatomy scan im going to start getting bigger items the baby needs.

Not at all. I think it's smart to start slowly building up what you need. Especially if you're worried about him not sticking around.

I think it's smart. It's easier to buy a little as you go. I wouldn't open anything in case you have to return for different sizes, etc.

IMO it's a good idea to get a stash started so you aren't panicking at the last minute to buy those things..also instead of one big expense at one time you can spread it out a little bit..i would have already started buying those things but dh wants to research it all first...

He sounds either emotionally abusive or he's freaked out about baby in general. I personally think it's the most responsible thing knowing your finances and if you can't buy things all in one go ... why not buy some each pay? It's your money afterall.

I love layaway options too for bigger items, of course not so many stores offer this anymore.

He may start feeling overwhelmed once the bigger items start to come in. Is there a way to not share with him what you've bought? Just a does he need to know right this second? It could always be "gifts"

I plan on buying once we know the gender. Of course friends are already buying me things ... either case I am going to start a box to store all of the smaller items

I think stacking up is a good idea! In all honesty I started buying clothes and stuff at 6 weeks... But I'm crazy

It's a good idea to start stocking up. If this is your first and you are going to have a shower make sure you leave some cute things for others to buy. Otherwise, have fun.

I think having a stockpile is great. It's so much smarter to plan ahead and buy things when they're on a really good sale and you have the money to spend than wait until you run out, items are at full price, and are strapped for money.

I think it's smart regardless of relationship or financial status!
