So, I've got some patterns for shirts and shorts that I'm working on. Problem is that I'm a PLUS PLUS sized woman and the patterns only go up to size 24 (I'm more like a 32/34). How many sizes can I modify the pattern before I risk totally screwing things up? I've read 2-3 sizes but is it possible to go more than that and keep the same final shape and proper fit?

For the record, I'm working on maternity shorts and shirts.

Hun, I've seen it done kinda. Just not sure how to explain it. Took me 15 minutes to type this with a cold, so I am of no use.

I think I've found out the hard way. :-/

I figured out that it's 1cm per size for these patterns so I took the shorts out 3cm and they were fine. I took the shirt out 4cm and it just doesn't fit right. It's fixable but I think I'm just going to have to learn how to make my own patterns. I've looked all over the internet and just can't find any patterns that go as big as I need them.

Thanks, Michele. I gave them a look and they won't work... to give you an idea, PRE-pregnancy I had 59" hips and 55" bust. Now that I'm just over 5 months, I'm bigger than that. It seems most patterns stop at about 47". (The patterns I have stop at 46" bust and 48" hips.)
