The puff stitch is similar to the bobble stitch, only it's, well, puffier. Here, you won't even make a series of true double crochet stitches; you're just gonna pull up a bunch of big ole loops that you'll pull together at the end. Since puff stitches are fat and bulky, they're often separated by a chain stitch or two. To make a nice and puffy puff stitch, lets try it with 5 loops of this kind.
1. Yarn over and insert the hook into the next stitch, pull the strand through and pull up a lopp that's as tall as the stitiches you crocheted before the puff stitich (about the height of a double crochet most likely). You have 3 loops on your hook. Yarn over, insert hook into the same stitch, and pull up another large loop. You have 5 loops on the hook. Repeat the last step 3 more times (5 times altogether), and you should have 11 loops on your hook.
2. It's time to pull off this puff;Yarn over and draw the strand through all the loops on the hook, then close up the puff with a final chain stitch by yarning over and pulling the strand through the loop on your hook
FROM SNB BY DEBBIE STOLLER****now the book's stitch is puffier than the one in the video as Debbie went with 11 loops instead of 7. Either way you want to do it is fine!!***
