What's your favorite restaurant to take your LO with allergies to? Which one works best with you? Do you take food with you or order there?

I think mine is a local place called BoJos, its kind of like a beachy/boardwalky restaurant. They are really great with cooking Toby's stuff right and paying attention. If we are away from home, Applebees will usually try really hard too; Toby can get a plain burger or 2 (I ask them to cook it by itself in a pan instead of on a grill) and the mashed potatoes. I don't tell them that Toby just has an eczema reaction though; I just say allergies, b/c that usually scares them into being pretty careful. Or they come off that way at least. We usually have good trips to those 2 places. If we go somewhere else, I will usually take Toby some hotdogs or something to eat instead of ordering his food.

Hmm...hard one...we tend to stick to fast food chains (unfortunately) when we eat out and it's usually McDonalds or Subway. Just b/c those are the 2 we trust the most. I guess b/c we've not had problems there. But when we go to a bigger town we frequent Culvers and Cracker Barrel. I love Cracker Barrel and I have contacted them and loved the response I got regarding peanut allergies. They are committed to homestyle cooking and keeping their recipes traditional and simple (so they say ) I talk to the mgr. each time we go and they have always been great with it. I am just so uncomfortable going out to eat. I refuse to go to Applebees as they were complete jerks when I contacted them regarding food/peanut allergies.

We like to eat out periodically and I'll bring food if I don't trust the place with Tommy's allergies. Chilis does really nicely with being vigilant in avoiding contaminating his food. TGIFridays, Olive Garden, and Outback Steakhouse are also pretty good. The most common "eating out" we do for Tommy though is just getting a hotdog somewhere. LOL! Not the best meal, but really when out and about too far from home to get something there...it is the best bet as fast food. LOL!

I had completely forgot about chilis! They were great with us too. I swear our town has the best applebees..we've been to a few here and there on trips, and it is never as good service/food as our home one.

My little bro has a gluten and dairy allergy. We can eat at Maggianos. You just need to let them know of the allergy on the phone when you make a reservation. The chef usually comes out and talks to him to find out exactly what little bro wants. They can make sauce just for him and use gluten free pasta, all cooked without contamination from other foods. There are more and more chain restaurants that are doing this and making it a lot easier to eat out with a gluten allergy. We have a few local restaurants that are great as well and even have 1 totally gluten free one.
