Have you noticed how much easier/tastier the chocolate allergy free mixes are? I used a vanilla, and tasted the batter before I baked it..ugh!! Had to add cocoa and sugar until it actually tasted like a cake. It turned out yummy though, kind of a spice cake taste.

Delaney has eczema due to allergies. She's Egg-Free, Wheat/Gluten-Free, Peanut-Free & Citrus Fruits-Free. She's lefty and the rest of us in the house are righty. She loves Yo Gabba Gabba, Pinocchio, Princess Snow White, Aurora, Belle & Care Bears. We're currently working on potty training, but it's not going well......

I haven't ever used the allergy free mixes. For birthdays I have just made a rice krispy treat in a cake pan and frosted that.

I haven't found a vanilla cake mix only a chocolate cake mix that works for Luc. Just as well since he loves chocolate!

Cherrybrook Farms has allergy free mixes but I just checked the chocolate cookie mix that I have and it contains soy lecithin, which I don't know is safe for you or not.

Betty Crocker just came out with Gluten Free mixes which I thought was neat. I haven't used this one yet so I cannot vouch how safe it is. For now I'll stick with Cherrybrook Farms b/c I know they definitely have peanut free mixes.

Ruth, cute idea with the rice krispy treat cake. I might try that sometime. I've only done a jello cake for his 1st birthday and the Cherrybrook Farm chocolate cake since then. I think I might try to make him an ice cream cake for his 5th birthday.

it is an a-free mix..but I can't remember the brand. I don't think its cherrybrook, but basically the same thing I think. I get it at Kroger in the whole foods/organic foods section by the produce&fruits.

I hope it works well for you. I got the idea from my cousin whose little girl has food allergies. She actually used rice krispie bars to make a "gingerbread" house with her little girl at Christmas.
