We thought Danny had MPIES and SPIES (milk and soy only). basically the entire digestive tract responds to the protien as a poison and throws it through the body as quickly as possible. Cramps, sometimes vomiting, diarrhea, the whole she bang. It can last from a few hours to a couple weeks depending on severity and amount and concentration of exposure to the irritant. I hope that helps some!

Did they tell you the specific foods that are triggering it?

I have heard of it as well..but I don't know a whole lot about it. I know that it can have different levels of severity, and that it can lead to a very limited diet; but I will be interested to learn more about it with you. I would like to know as well if the doc gave you any resources/suggestions.

i3ai3ydanny,
Hopefully, you still check this board! I just moved to Knoxville, and I'm wondering who you saw for your son's MPIES. I'm pretty sure my son has solids-only FPIES, and I'm unsure of how to proceed. Thanks for any info you can provide!

The best GI in Knoxville is Dr. Ross Kendall. He office is on Papermill Drive and he is REALLY good. We didn't see him for the MPIES and FPIES (that was through an alleregist that is was discussed and eventually deemed an allergy rather than a PIES reaction. If you are looking for an allergist the one Danny sees is Dr. Andrew Singer who has an office downtown, in Maryville, and in West Knoxville. He is part of the group Allergy and Asthma Affiliates. All the Dr's are good in there but Dr. Ellenberg loses sight of what he is supposed to be talking about sometimes. The other doctors are really good though and the PA's are amazing. If you have any questions you can PM me and I will send you my email address.

oh...you have to have at least 10 posts I think... hmmm.... if you post a generic email that you create...it will get spammed due to being public access...I will send that email one from my regular email address. gmail yahoo or aol.com will allow you to get free email. Post once with the yada yada part and post again with the @this.site.com part. otherwise it will auto delete... or you can find me on facebook. if you have facebook let me know and I will just post my direct FB link.

I saw this late and forgot that I was waiting on yours... Now I can't figure out how to reverse the I don't know you thing. when you go to your profile what are the numbers at the end of the url. I will pull up the link that way and add you. Sorry this is such a mess. Classes started back last week and my brain is fried. :/
