Well January 21st my daughter woke up with hives covering her hips. By the time i got her to her doctors she went into anaphlyactic shock. She ended up spending 4 days in the hospital and her reaction lasted almost 2 weeks. Since then we have pin pointed it could be chicken. She has daily migraines except for 3 days and turns red along with the throat and tongue and many other reactions. Its been so horrible for her. She never had an issue with her allergies before she was very mild then took a jump to now its life threatening. Today was supposed to be her first day back in school well because of the 2 hr delay they had they were cooking lunch as they prepared breakfast and if you couldnt guess it was all chicken products so 20 mins after breakfast her migraine started and so did the redness. So I had to pick her up now her migraine is gone but she is drained I questioned the food staff so when i take her to her allergist i could say hey this is what happened. So now she can not eat school food or eat in the breakfast or lunch room. Every precaution has to be taken til we can figure this out.

Any one else have a child who is or are you allergic ? I am a loss since everything seems to have some form of chicken product in it. There is not much on the net for this basicly only symtpoms and suck no real help or support groups.

I have no direct experience. But poultry allergy in the form of egg and feathers is not uncommon but poultry meat allergy is not common. Since she is allergic to chicken, she may be allergic to turkey and duck as well. So be careful about this. In my opinion, you can consult an immunologist. Has she ever been tested for an allergy test?

this happened 2 yrs ago and so much has changed with her. She no longer is allergic to chicken like she was she can eat it now but not to often. The iGe receptors in her skin go hay wire so some days shes fine other days shes allergic to everything including herself. she is on a great med to help regulate everything adn it works great.

I am happy to hear she is doing better! My daughter was just diagnosed with a chicken allergy, too. I had never even heard about being allergic to chicken before the allergist gave me the results- but it makes sense with her symptoms and whatnot. Not even close to as severe as your daughter's but enough to cut it out for sure. Wow! Is your daughter also allergic to other kinds of poultry and fowl meat? I didn't think to ask the allergist about this when we were there, since my kids are the only meat eaters in the house (and that is very limited really- mostly just in daycare) but I guess I would like to be aware in case she does consume turkey or something somewhere else.
