About NFP or FAM? What does she think?

Mine sort of tried to follow it, but she's convinced it doesn't work because I'm the oldest of 7 kids. I asked her if she always followed all the rules. She said yes and started to explain how you calculate the fertile days by counting the length of your old cycles. AH! No wonder it didn't work! LOL She doesn't really get how modern NFP is different.

She only knows that's what I used, but other than that, she doesn't know anything else about it. She's post menopause do she doesn't need it now anyway.

My mom knows and is quite angry that modern FAM works. She actually says that we must be doing something else because it "doesn't work that well" Needless to say she is starting to cut me off until I have a child. She has blatantly told me I am selfish to want to finish school instead of having children. She is old school.

Sounds like my mom. She thought me going to school was me going to find me a husband.

We are not a close knit family and so I do not talk to my mom about those things. It is just how we are......

My mom doesn't know anything about what we are doing - just hounding me for another grandchild (since AJ was about a year old). She lives in NY and I live in TX. She hasn't ever seen AJ except for pictures (we don't have the best of relationships).

My IL's know and are semi-supportive. When I told them we were doing NFP they were skeptical, but I think the year we were avoiding surprised them that we didn't get pregnant.

she used clomid to get preggers with my brothers and I ( we are triplets ) and then got her tubes tied because she really only wanted one child anyways

You mean the mom who encouraged me to DTD with DH before we were married? You mean the mom who asked me if I'd like her help in choosing which birth control to use?

No, I don't think she's got a clue. Actually... She knows that I'm Catholic and Catholics are not supposed to use birth control. So she thinks Catholics don't use anything basically, just DTD whenever mindlessly! Which is why we all have 17 kids and counting

Sorry, I totally went off topic. But no, I don't think she does. And even if she did, she would just critisize it.

LOL I had a laugh at that since that's pretty much what my dh have done so far (we've been married 6 1/2 yrs). I'm not Catholic (although I'm looking into it, actually). We are currently Protestant and developed an anti-BC mindset and didn't consider NFP until we realized we might have 17 and still be counting. lol

Anyhoo, nope. I haven't told my mom. I'm afraid I will get pregnant by accident while I'm nursing and I haven't even taken the postpartum CCL class yet, so I'm not going to tell her until we have managed to avoid for a while...

Yep my Mum knows. My Aunties (Mum's sister) actually teaches NFP and has been working in womens health her whole life, so it's always been openly discussed as I grew up. Mum is a little paranoid that I could fall pregnant so I do get the occasional lecture from her about using other forms of birth control as well (condoms), but it doesn't really bother me!! I just give her a lecture back about how NFP works!!

My mom knoqa bur ahw has never tried it. She had two kids by the time she was 19 and then got her tubes tied.

She freaked when she found my bbt because the box said something about ovulation and thought I was trying to get pregnant! So I had to have a long conversation explaining that pinpointing ovulation can also helpt to PREVENT pregnancy. You just don't have sex around that time or use a barrier method.

I'm not sure if my mom knows or not... I know she knows of the old rhythm method, or the "Catholic bc." LOL But the farthest we've gone to talk about sex/bc was her reminding me every time I went on antibiotics that my bc wasn't effective and to be careful, and her asking if I was pg one morning when I started puking due to a migraine I had developed during the night.

Hmm, well I've never actually discussed it with my mom. Though I think we might eventually, as my baby sister is 9 years old and when she starts her period, I want to get her "Cycle Savvy" by Toni Weschler... so my mom and I will probably have a discussion about it before that point.

Anyways, she's aware that I did some kind of charting method while I was TTC my daughter, but she doesn't know what the method really is... and she doesn't know that we use it as birth control as well.
