I got pregnant with Veronika when Natasha was 10 months old (same as your baby is now). For me, the hardest was actually the last trimester, being that I was so heavy and tired all the time. I admit she watched way more TV than I would've liked during those 3 months; it was also winter so we were couped up indoors a lot, but... it got me through! Overall, it wasn't all that bad.
I conceived #2 when #1 was 3 months old. I did have a period first.
I've also conceived at 6 months post partum, twice. Also had periods before those conceptions.
However, prior to 6 months - most women will have a warning period before they ovulate for the first time. After 6 months, it's more common to ovulate before the first period - so it's very possible to conceive without having the first post partum period. It's probably a good idea to test if you're not charting your fertility signs to know what's going on.
