I decided that I would do a little emotional reaction to the study update. It does have a reoccurring cost that will make me more likely to not continue it after the study. That being said, I really do like it. I am not sure if I "trust" it quite yet. I have had cycles before that I got a +opk and didn't ovulate. Since this is very similar to an opk I am scared that I will have a peak reading on the monitor and not go through with it.
A reassuring thing with it is a visual thing. I like visual things. Most FAM/NFP is you have to make your own observations (as every woman should). To me this monitor is a complementary addition to a scientifically proven NFP method like Billings or FAM (knowing the risk of "device failure")
I like it saying Low High and Peak. I have been able to predict a high reading. My first cycle of the study, I had nice CM. I had 5 high readings before peak. My second cycle CM was sketchy and I only had 1 High reading before peak. Both those times, I ovulated.
Right now my CM observations are practically impossible because of a yeast infection. The monitor is still able to say that within that environment I am still at High fertility. Never done the research, this may sound bad, but if DH and I were TTC right now. We would still be able to BD once on a peak reading.
I will most likely use the monitor when I am TTC. I like it, just not alone for TTA.
I had signed up for this, and was approved. But, I didn't get the monitor. However, my DH got sent to Korea for a year. So, I dropped out. I think it would skew the results if I never had intercourse! LOL I still like the idea of the monitor, and would consider using it...in addition to charting of some kind.
