Hi, my name is Gina. I am 31 and my DH and I have 3 boys. We would like another child so we decided to NTNP. I have been using FF to keep track of AF and recently (this month) started temping to see when exaxtly I ovulate.

Now for my question. I am really confused by all of this. I have temp'd every day since the beginning of this cycle except for 1 day was discarded and 2 days in the beginning when I forgot. I now have a dashed crosshairs mark on my chart for CD 9 (I am on CD 16 now). I have read the info on FF but still I have no idea what this means. I have always assumed that I was on a "normal" cycle O'ng near day 14

Here is my chart, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome!

First of, only 12% of women actually ovulate on day 14 - so it's actually more normal to ovulate earlier or later than that. Even if your cycles are quite regular, the day of ovulation can be different from cycle to cycle (by a few days.)

FF just likes to give crosshairs for no apparent reason. Dotted crosshairs mean it's not sure about ovulation, solid crosshairs mean it's pretty sure about ovulation. It's not unusual to get a few sets of dotted CH's before you finally do ovulate, then when the real thing happens you'll get the solid CH's.

The temps are fairly bouncy, are you taking them at the same time each morning? Are you breastfeeding or have you recently discontinued hormones?

I do take the temps at the same time each morning. At about 6:10am. I haven't been on BC for about a year now and I am not BF'ng either.

Have you been watching your CM at all? Have you noticed wet or slippery feelings lately? When in doubt or you're not quite sure if FF has got it right, you can always refer back to the CM observations to tell you when ovulation has occurred.

Hey Gina.

The link in your post isn't correct, but I found your chart via your ticker. Just based on temp, I can't really tell you. Good Luck.

Looking at past cycles where I marked CM. I had an increase around day 14-16. Unfortunately I am not sure this month if that is what it is or not because we have BD.

I tried to fix the link also. Not sure why the pic disappeared.

I see the pic, and since you don't have any cm marked on those days...and your temp isn't very clear I would say it is hard to tell if you have ovulated...what's your schedule like, do you go to bed the same time every night? Do you sleep with your mouth closed or open?

Hmm, lately it has been around the same time. 1130-ish. And I think I sleep with my mouth open, I am not sure.

OK, I updated my chart because I am sure that I have CM today. Although we DTD last night I know that can't be the reason. So it looks like FF is just screwy. This is all still so new to me. Why can't it be easier than this?

If you sleep with your mouth open it can screw up your temperature if you take it orally, so in those cases it can be beneficial to take it vaginally.
