I determine spotting based on quantity. I know my body enough to know when the amount of blood is more like a period, or more like just spotting. For me, anything less than about two or so dime-fulls is spotting... and 3+ is actual bleeding. But that's MY body. The amount might be different for you or someone else, ya know?
Well if that's the case, then most of my periods would be considered spotting. There are times I can get away with one pad per day. Then there are times where the flow is so hard that I have to change a lot during the day (never where it's two or more during an hour)
that's kind of how my periods (well what I remember of them lol!) were like. A few days of a spotting type flow, and then a couple heavier days, then back to the spotting days. Maybe you are just lucky??
I think it's because of the water gain that happens when I get ready to have a period. If I can't get rid of it, I just feel bloaty and yuck. Once I have that heavier flow and I can get rid of the extra fluid, then I'm feeling fantastic.
I remember when i was on BC I had to have the pill that had lasix in it because I would gain so much water weight.
