Can't say it's unexpected, since I'm coming off the pill.. but it's still annoying.

I'm running three charts (two tcoyf - one online, one software, and FF for the ticker)... and none of them were able to predict ovulation.

Well that's because the only time my temps ever go above the coverline is if I miss my wake up time. And I started a cold last night, so I don't even know if I can trust any temp that might go above it to not be a fever.

Just sucks, we hate the spermicide, but other than abstaining (which he isn't keen on) it's our only real option. And thanks to my "can't get a clue" body we're stuck using it until I find the 3 dry days, or AF shows up..

I'm gonna go cry in a corner now.

It's better not to try to "predict" ovulation anyway. Ovulation can come anytime it wants, so it's always more accurate to consider yourself fertile or infertile based on your daily signs as they happen without any guessing or predicting when it will be.

Many women have infertile discharge after coming off the Pill, which can be treated the same as completely dry days. It takes 2-4 weeks of charted CM sensation and no genital contact to see if there's infertile discharge though.

Hang in there. Hopefully you'll ovulate soon!

TCOYF doesn't state no genital contact though. In fact I've not seen that listed anywhere in the book since it uses multiple sings for ovulation, rather than just the CM. However it does restrict WHEN you can have contact during the day, to allow for your body to sort itself and give you a window to check for CM for the first lot of cycles until you see a pattern.

Atm I can't rely on CM anyway because I'm taking cold medicine to help dry up my very unhappy sinus's. Thankfully I have no fever so I can still temp. I do need to go poke my cervix though and see where it is and why it's bleeding a little bit. I had the early spotting last cycle too.

eta: hmm... still so high I can only feel a teeny part of it.. that's not good...

In Appendix B of my edition of TCOYF it recommends abstaining to establish a Basic Infertile Pattern, to remove interference from other fluids (seminal fluid, spermicides and lubricants that are on condoms, etc). I've got the revised edition, maybe yours is different? In Chapter 9, it also recommends charting 2 full cycles before relying on the FAM rules; which would probably require either abstinence or condoms to get a solid reading on the cervical mucus patterns without any interference.

you are right on the second point yes. But according to my book that means using extra precautions until you are sure of what's going on. Which we have done.

and my books says not to read the appendix B unless you've confirmed you've not ovulating, which you can't do for several cycles. Seems that would be better placed in the book if it were strictly important.

I applaud anyone who's husband is ok with abstaining for a month for her to get used to her body. Mine was abused by his ex with sex and I'm not about to repeat that pattern for him. I'd deal with the migraines that the pills the US will give me instead.

I am right there with you, Ashely! I am currently on CD58 after coming off the pill. Had like two days of annovulatory bleeding a couple days ago, but that was it. Even when I thought I had fertile CM, AND a positive OPK, my body still failed to O. Sooo frustrating. I definitely applaud you for taking necessary precautions though. We are usually pretty good about sticking with condoms, but sometimes...It's just the pull and pray. LOL.

This whole experience is a good reminder that I will never be using a hormonal method again. No offense to the ladies that love it, but it has definitely caused me a lot of grief.

The abstaining while learning I thought was the hardest thing about talking to dh about it...luckily it was a one time deal though

yeah I got a "not for that reason no. We'll have a baby instead" (he's the one giving us the ttc time frame)

And at this point we'd have been abstaining for a month... I've still not ovulated. I feel broken.

That was part of why I didn't want to do it, I thought I might have to abstain a while as I might not ovulate, but we got it sort of figured out without me ever ovulating (my instructor and I) so I didn't have to go til I ovulated.

yeah he could have handled a week to 10 days or something... there are other things we could have done... but for this long... things would have been super tense around here.

Thankfully I do get a window of CM even after we've dtd and used spermicide. The kegel hint in the book to get the "stuff" out works pretty good.

But no O again and in 3 days I expect some bleeding... no spotting yet this month at least!
