Hi everyone! I am new to this as! I just had my 2nd baby girl 5 weeks ago today! We have decided this was the way to go for us. We don't want another baby right now, but we will not be using any BC for 101 different reasons.
So first off I am EBF... my pp bleeding is just about done, I still have some spotting but have not needed a pad for about 10 days.
I do pump, for storage purposes(I has supply issues last time so I am a bit of a BM hoarder this time), we do here and there(3x's a week?) give her a bottle of BM but I am either pumping at the same time or have just nursed her and as a last ditch effort to console her tiny little crying butt we give her a bottle of BM(that BTW she never really drinks cause its not what she needed ) DH will give her a binky, she rarely takes it but she is offered one
So that has me breaking the rules...
So that leads me to my question/s... (which is probably stupid) I do know charting cause we TTC for a year but I have never TTA and for some reason flipping it around is so confusing to me, LOL
What Method would I use?
I can't BBT cause I don't get enough consistent sleep at this point.
I don't have a period (this is the big one I can't wrap my brina around what a chart would look like with no start and no end)
I am not a CP checker... just can't do it, cant reach it ever... and honestly scared to go up there (stupid I know)
So that leaves me with just CM? That's what I go by? I just chart away checking nothing but that?
I guess I need to know where to start, since we have ummmm already DTD twice with withdraw to TTA... We don't do barriers I would rather just abstain during my fertile time.
Thanks for reading my rambles, LOL! Hope it made sense!
Big time thanks to jmmysterymaker for my WONDERFUL siggie!
Pumping doesn't break any "rules," it just means you can't assume you're covered by breastfeeding infertility right now. No problem, you can just move into charting and TTA that way. Cycles are not necessary for that, as you can ovulate before your first PPAF.
It sounds like either the Billings Ovulation Method or the Creighton Model would be good methods for you. Neither one requires temperatures or checking your cervix. Either one can be used while BFing and before your cycles come back. They are both systems of monitoring your fertility based on CM only, but in different ways. And you're also in luck because several of us around here use Billings and I also teach it IRL.
What you need to know about CM for TTC and what you need to know for TTA are a little different. The easiest and most effective way to go about it is to learn either method from a certified instructor. That way you have someone to walk you through it step by step, until you are confident with it. You can check here for the nearest Billings or Creighton instructors:
