I'm thinking I've been doing this wrong the whole time. *sigh*.

I don't know why I didn't absorb the info.. this seems to becoming a problem as I'm getting closer to 30, I have to read things 3-4 times to get it all (and this book isn't interesting enough for me to try and read it again so soon. So I looked it up online on the tcoyf webpage tonight..

I have been observing how it feels... but hadn't been doing it while wiping. I was updating my CM to my chart (I do it at night to give myself the full day to observe) and realized that I've never actually recalled feeling sticky or dry.. and now I know why.. i wasn't doing it right! I've basically been here just evaluating how I felt down there, just the "feel". oi.

How important is this? Could my chart be totally off because of it?

In my method you do just evaluate how you feel down there. I would say as long as you do it the same way every day, as in don't change between one day wiping and one day just feeling it should be fine.

*phew*

that's how I've been doing it. I just felt concerned when I realized I almost always feel wet and cold down there.. even when I have no CM, I still have a lot of normal vaginal moisture, it evaporates off my fingers quickly and isn't slippery...

thanks hun. I feel a bit better.

Just do whatever TCOYF recommends and do it consistently. Different methods have different ways of evaluating CM. With Billings, we don't tough the CM at all and wiping isn't part of the observation - so a totally different way of doing it than what you'll get from TCOYF! And make a note whenever spermicide is involved, because that will affect your readings (due to the way the chemicals can irritate the natural environment of the vagina and alter secretions).

lol I just check the "birth control" box to tell me that we used spermicide.

I'd assume it should dry me out... being as that's the main reaction listed on the box... but I haven't noticed any dryness (the irritated kind). The bigger problem for me is the semen protein sensitivity that causes major discharge. I'm honestly glad I've been experiencing it for years because if I wasn't I'd be marking it as slippery every time we dtd. Takes about 12 hours for my body to expel all the stuff it makes in response to the protein, and I notice after that my CM returns to what I'm used to when single and not on the pill.

Once I O and get AF I will do the sensation based on tcoyf's recommendations. Honestly with the amt of natural wetness I have, toilet paper always slides over me. I've been told by doctors that I have a lot of general wetness. But I just assumed I was supposed to just evaluate how it feels, not touch it.

I'd really hoped the ewcm and spotting i had last week with the temp jump would be an O.. but tcoyf moved the cover line to 98.1F.

If you have a consistent wetness every day, that should just become part of your Basic Infertile Pattern after charting awhile longer. Then any *change* from that consistent wetness is what you would classify as potentially fertile.

Yeah, I'm wet every day, pregnant, not pregnant, fertile, not fertile, I have wetness always. It is to what degree for me.

Thanks girls.

I felt extra wet tonight, so when I went to the bathroom i wasn't shocked to see some red streaked very stretchy cm (more lotiony incolor than eggwhite)... to me that screams AF! (or break through bleeding)... so looks like no ovulation this time.

I dug up my journal from the last time I wasn't on bcp for a while... and realized my longest cycle was 50 days, not 35 and my shortest 21... so I put that in and wow! LOL

You can get blood in the CM during ovulation, so I'd definitely treat that as fertile!

only problem with that is.. if my temp spikes again it's going to be so high (for me) I'm going to feel sick and have a legit "Ashley Fever". Anything above normal body temperature is considered a low grade fever in me.. I'm already at 98.3 and feeling too warm.

You may just have to avoid or use backup until you're sure you've O'd if your temps are going to be off norm for a bit.

we always use back up, have been for over 30 days. I won't follow the rules of the book until I've got a few cycles that look "normal".

they're gonna get real whack next week.. I have to get vaccinations on Sunday (or will try to... not easy in the middle of nowhere), I've put them off as far as a I can, but I'm guaranteed a high fever for a week.

yea... i was unsure of the vaginal sensation thing too... so much to learn. i do what i call a dip stick test, lol and now i'll be monitoring how it 'feels' both when i wipe and in daily activities. these women on here are an awesome source of information. they help so much!

as interesting the contents of the book are... it's dry... i dont want to read the whole thing again for questions so i find myself flipping around.

It could be a minor infection, just not full blown. I'm not sure. If you don't want to see the doctor about it, you could call his or her office and ask to speak to a nurse or the doctor and explain it to them and see what they think.

I would probably take cranberry pills and see if that helps any.

Also, to avoid UTIs in the future, make sure to urinate after sex. I used to get them and when I made sure I urinated within a reasonable amount of time after sex I didn't have that problem anymore. You don't have to jump up immediately but preferably within an hour of sex.

huh?

I have no infections. I had a major kidney stone and UTI for most of the fall but that's cleared up with pain, pain meds and three rounds of antibiotics. I'm just wet feeling all of the time, I have been my whole life.

Maybe she was replying to another thread? Or it is one of those JM things where things post in the wrong place?

I dunno but I was and still am very confused. I was assuming she was saying because I feel wet I had an infection so i should get checked...

I used to run to the dr for infections but I rarely had them. I even used to have urine tested every month for a funny smell (almost like bacon).. but that's just how my body reacts to hornomes I guess cause it ONLY happens before Af and they never found anything wrong.
