My hubs and I just bought a memory foam mattress topper. It's been really helpful for both of us who have back and neck problems. Plus way cheaper than buying a new mattress. That is just my 2 cents though.

Like sammy we each have a 4" memory foam mattress topper from Walmart. Due to his work schedule and me being very sensitive to sound and movement while sleeping we do have separate beds.. I was so stiff and sore until he bought me mine.

Never an issue I've had to deal with. Our beds have always been given to us by people dieing. (Sounds awful, but that's how we've acquired a lot of our furniture.)
