Definitely hinders it a billion! That mixed with the fact that I personally don't want another one until my SIL gets pregnant with a sticky bean is postponing our fertility planning right now. I'm thinking about another yearish.

We're not exactly where we'd like to be financially, but we want a larger family (about 5), I'm not getting any younger, and I don't have the most pristine reproductive organs, so we decided our finances were good enough to get started.

If I hadn't already decided we were done after this one, our bank account would have decided that for us at this point, but of course, that could change...I have time to change my mind, I just don't think I will.

If money were the only factor, our family would probably be a lot smaller! Our finances have never been sound, so while that plays a part, it isn't THE deciding factor for us.

We don't have insurance at this point, so it plays a huge factor in it for us. Though we are trying, we are hoping that nature will work in our favor and will work on our timeline with fiances. We could afford doctors and a labor right now, but not any unforeseen trips like to the ER.
I'll be getting insurance this fall... I'm just having difficulties figuring it all out (very different from Canadian Insurance).. and can't seem to find a company we can afford that has the maternity add on.

Ashley are you having to find insurance on your own? Like not through work or something like that? I've noticed it is so expensive and that is why we don't have insurance either

It has a little effect. We have enough money that DH and I are comfortable with starting for another kid this fall, however, we may re-evaluate at that point because it's possible if I wait another few months, we'll be in a better situation where I'll be able to take an entire semester off work instead of just a quarter for maternity leave.

Dh is a contractual worker, while his company DOES offer insurance, it's not worth what they're asking for it.
So we'll be looking at a no contract provider to cover us until I can get a job this fall... hopefully I can find something with good benefits.... but we figure we'll have to have private until he switches jobs. He's looking at becoming a wind turbine tech.. which is good money, less travel and decent benefits we hear.
But we can't wait until then for coverage. I'm already suffering now not being able to be seen when needed... I'm hoping that I can get seen in Canada.. even paying out of pocket up there I suspect it will be cheaper.

Not really. Things are always tight, but our needs are met. If we waited for our finances to be perfect before TTC, we'd probably only have 2 kids right now. If it was to the point that we were struggling to meet the basic needs of our family (food, shelter, utilities, school fees, etc) ...that would definitely be a reason to TTA for us.

Well, without DH being employed and Marsi and I on COBRA it wouldn't be the best for us to have another baby at this point. Regardless, we want to wait until Marsi is a year old to TTC but we aren't really avoiding either. We are going the whole, if it happens, it happens route. Having more sex would make it more likely to get pregnant...we don't do that much these days.

it used to be a big deal but not so much anymore. DH realized its time, we are in a good place financially so after my hand heals from the CTS we will get back to TTC hard. with my last cycle being 27 days O CD14 I'm feeling optimistic. i hope those 50+ day cycles are behind me since the cortisone is gone from my system.
DH knows now we will never be 100% ready financially, things will be tight loosing my income when i become a SAHM but we will be ok.

For me not having insurance makes it cheaper on me, cuz Medicaid has always picked me up when I don't have it!

We have been discussing this alot. Our oldest is 14 and our youngest is 6 so we are really in a good spot as we dont have any small children really and Dh thinks we should be done but I really think we should have at least one more. We have pretty good insurance so luckily that isnt a problem.
