Come to think of it, I THINK I am a surprise baby. I am not sure. I am certain that I am either a surprise or 1st cycle trying.

It took my parents over 3 years with me and a year with my sister. They never found out the cause, but since both my sister and me have endo, and endo is gentic, that was probably it.

I am a one hit wonder. Two teens + Graduation + back seat + first and only time = ME! My Mom thought it wasn't possible to get pregnant the very first time, so she didn't even know until she was 5 months along. And they defied all the odds. Married 32 years.

My mom had a 10cm cyst on one of her ovaries in Dec 82/Jan 83 that bcp wasn't fixing. So they went to remove it, had her stop her pills on Friday, and she'd resume them Wednesday. Dad came in from being out to sea Sunday...
I came along in October. LOL.
My middle brother was planned... I'm not sure how long it took but they asked me if I wanted another sibling in early 1990 and he was born in May of 91.
Little brother was an oops. They refused to tie mom's tubes and she was no longer able to take the pill. Mom says he's so screwed up because he's a result of something being broken, so he's broken In reality, I think he's screwed up because I dropped him on his head.... more than once.

I was a one-night stand. My parents didn't have any plans for a future together.

I'm suddenly struck by how odd it is that I have no idea whatsoever. My parents had been married for 3 years before I was conceived and I'm the oldest, so I'm going to assume it was intentional. Other than that, not a clue.

there was NOTHING ever hidden from me as a child. It's a good thing I'm not normal or I'd seriously have the worst self esteem ever.

My answer is a while, but I don't know how long. I think they started trying when they got married, so 3 years...I guess I am a rainbow baby too, cuz there was a miscarriage in between marriage and me.

Well I think my dad had mentioned in the past that they were trying to a whole 2 months and my mom got all discouraged and thought she couldn't have kids and wouldn't you know the 3rd month of being married, BAM pregnant! I'm pretty sure my mom has never had a problem getting pregnant but she liked the extra drama attached to it.

My parents tried for several yrs (hence the 4 yr difference between me and my older sister, their first). My mom later found out that she had a tilted uterus or something to that effect, which made it very difficult to conceive. She had to have something put in her that fixed it, and then later it was removed after she got pregnant with me. When they were ready to try for my younger sister, she had it put back in and got pregnant again no problem.
It must have corrected itself or something, because she got pregnant again shortly after and I know it was a surprise!

I was a surprise, first PP cycle after weaning my brother.
My brother was also a surprise, as they were told they would not be able to have children. My mom was seeing a fertility specialist and went in one day complaining of bloating, moodiness, big boobs, etc and the doctor tested her. She was about 5 months along.
I am not sure why she was told she could not conceive, though. She had a miscarriage at about 4-5 months along a couple of years prior to conceiving my brother. They told her that the pregnancy wasn't in the right spot and that's why she lost it but now that I am older and know more, I don't think that was the case, otherwise she would have lost the baby much earlier, right? It sounds like it was horrible, though. She was bleeding profusely and her sister found the fetus in the house after she got to the hospital.
