You know what I think would be fun? If we had a blinkie made that said something like "NFP/FAM board has been surprise baby free since ________" It'd be adverting for both the board and the methods, and I think it'd be kind fun for us to keep track of . The only problem is, does anybody know when the last surprise pregnancy this board had was? Do ya'll think that'd be fun or too cheesy?

I think that'd be cute! I have no idea who the last baby would be. We did have the no pp af baby (that sadly was lost) and Terra was a lil bit of a surprise I think.

I think it's cute Of course if there is a surprise pregnancy it's going to look pretty bad saying "surprise baby free since yesterday!"

I think it would be cute, as long as we're clear about what constitutes a "surprise!" Not really charting or following a proven set of guidelines for TTA, or knowingly taking chances.....NOT a surprise!

lol so it'd be more "speeding ticket free" than surprise free.

Well if one's intentions are to TTA, but their actions line up with the guidelines for using NFP for TTC....then it's not really a surprise, even if they are surprised! LOL

Makes me think of my friend in HS who was shocked about a BFP... "I don't understand how it happened" she said. I'm not known for a good internal filter so I turned around and said "well, when you have sex with a guy daily with out protection it's kinda something that happens. Did you sleep through health?"

LOL! Even with protection. When I teach NFP classes, we have this waiver that all clients have to sign. It basically says that when used properly, Billings is 99%, but that no method of family planning is 100%. This is part that always gets me:
"Whenever a healthy man and woman engage in genital contact, the possibility of pregnancy should be recognized."
Sad that we have to remind people of the very simple biological fact.

Oh yeah, I have some friends who have had NFP/FAM "surprises" but they were really the result of sloppy charting. It's like when somebody blames the pill when they get pregnant, even though they forgot to take the pill half the time. Unplanned maybe, but it shouldn't be a surprise.

Yeah... I don't get it either. It's like, bu that point we'd had like 5 years of sex ed... she got the point more than once. She just figured that it wouldn't happen to her.

I know somebody that thought she was infertile because she DTD unprotected several times and never got pregnant, and then she was shocked when she quickly got pregnant when she stopped using protection all together.
I also know somebody from highschool that just had her fifth "surprise". Ummm... at this point I don't know how you can still be shocked, lol.

That is almost as weird to me as the people who give birth and claim they never knew they were pregnant...REALLY?

That is how my nephew came to be. My SIL told my brother that she had unprotected sex with all of her boyfriends and she never got pregnant so she must be infertile.
