As much as I am stoked AF showed today (I will be camping on Thursday-Sunday), I am starting to get nervous about my LP. I know it is normal for LP to be shorter while breastfeeding. For the first 2 cycles, my LP has only been 8 days. Since we are wanting to TTC in the next couple of cycles this is concerning me. My milk supply is extremely shaky. It has been really good since I started Ca/Mg supplements after ovulation. I took B6 for my energy and mood earlier in my PP period and it caused a drop in supply. Is there something I can take to extend my LP but not decrease supply? I am already having to constantly take fenugreek and blessed thistle to keep the supply I have. I am trying to build a freezer stash to use when I am no longer pumping and transitioning her to non breast milk.
There really isn't anything, because it's the Prolactin that affects ovulation...which affects your LP. It usually lengthens gradually, by a day or two with each post partum cycle that you have....but some women find that it just stays short until after they wean. When happens, it can mean making a tough decision about whether it's more important to keep nursing than to TTC or whether TTC is more important than continuing to nurse. There is no right answer to that one, it's very individual!
