Can I get some opinions ladies? I am getting creamy CM with globs of slippery streaked EWCM, what would you chart it as? It's texture is almost booger like... and no this is not based on internal CM checking although I am getting the same internal and externally. My VS is a little slippery, but its more wet and goopy.

Background, I was hvaing my normal EWCM buld up until Wednesday (CD12) when we BD and then I stubbed my toe so hard I broke it... went to the ER, took Vicodin... just wonderful. I think it delayed O... but I'm not sure because I didn't temp or take OPK's Thursday, Friday & Saturday as I was focusing on taking care of my toe.

I had my annual OBGYN appointment Tuesday and he is on board to start me on progesterone suppositories 2 days post + OPK, he doesnt trust temps. But now that my cycle has gone off the deep end... I'm not sure what's going on or what to do.

He also says to take 1 OPK a day, FMU, if I don't see a + OPK then he thinks I'm likely not ovulating even if my charting shows it. I know for a fact I usually dont see + OPK's until evening but he says if my surge isn't long enough I may not be releasing an egg. He said next we would try low dose clomid to try and fix my LP if the progesterone does not work or if I don't get a + OPK.

Oh an more awesome... DH wont touch me with my broken toe, we have vacation starting Friday and our 1 year wedding anniversary is the 17th... things are just sucking right now!!!!

If your surge isn't long enough, you may not be releasing an egg or you may be releasing one too prematurely. An immature egg produces a weak Corpus Luteum, and a weak Corpus Luteum doesn't produce enough progesterone. So I do agree with what's he saying here, but I completely disagree with his advice about the OPK's. POAS ~ OPK FAQ

I agree that injuring yourself could have delayed O. Chart the VS as it is, if it's at all slippery or lubricative - don't ignore that. As for it's appearance, I'd chart it as EWCM with spotting.

I'm surprised your doctor is already talking about Clomid after 5 monhts of TTC. 6-12 months of TTC is completely within the realm of normal for couples with average fertility. There is a time and place for Clomid, but it does come with risks - so I think a better approach is to find out why you're not having a good quality ovulation and fix that instead. Just my opinion! Same with the progesterone. It does help lengthen the Luteal Phase, but doesn't address why the egg is being released too prematurely in the first place (if that's what's happening to you).

I'm surprised the doctor is focusing so much on OPKs. I thought morning was the worst time to test and you were supposed to test in the afternoon and evening. FWIW- in about 3/4 of my cycles I never got a positive OPK despite showing successful O through charting, but the month I got pregnant I had two days of positive OPKs. So I don't know if a lack of strong surge was delaying things for us or not, or if it was just a coincidence.

I'm sorry about your broken toe. I broke mine a few years ago and it was not fun at all. And yes, something like that can surely delay O. Hope you recovery quickly!

Thank you ladies. Yep, ovulation was delayed, big time. EWCM left completely, I'm at sticky/creamy right now, today I had a few bits of what looked like EWCM but I don't feel fertile so I get to wait. I guess this cycle is just gong to end up FUBAR in regards to charting. I am temping daily, but they are really low because i ahve been sleeping with the windows/door open and no covers. Not sure how to fix that... I guess i just need to be consistent this cycle. We go on vacation Friday for a few days so we will surely get some BD in then, I just hope my EWCM comes back!

Yeah, I think his OPK directions are crazy, especially since my morning urine is super duper light always. So I am going to do 1/day OPK's at 5PM when I get home from work. I have seen my best OPK's around that time and can hold my pee at work. I'm feeling discouraged about it right now because al my fertility signs went away after that night, and my CM was so AWESOME that night.

I was shocked when he started on about all that. He also mentioned Clomid w/ trigger shot and IUI in the same conversation though I think he was just explaining all the avenues he can take with me. I asked for the Female hormone panel and he said he can do one, but didn't think it was going to tell him anything. He thinks we should just try the progesterone post O; I think he suspects I'm not really ovulating and isn't counting on me getting anywhere with it. I too am leery about the Clomid so quickly, I think I may ask for a monitored cycle without the Clomid first and then depending on what comes of that try the Clomid.

DH & are going to try Weight Watchers when we come back from vacation, I have heard loosing 10% of your weight can kickstart your body into ovulation if that's part of the problem. I can definitely stand to loose weight.

Exercise/weight loss is one of the most helpful things most of us can do for our fertility; but one of the most underestimated!!!

I think it's great when doctors are willing to help, but I really wish there was a protocol that was universally followed, starting with bloodwork!


I've thought about WW too Brianna (you know, I always wanna just call you Bri cause I'm lazy. LOL)... I'm down 11.8lbs since Sept 1st (and I'm not actually doing anything to lose it, just more careful about what's going down the hatch).
