Hey Everyone,

I was wondering if temp rise after 5dpo is normal. Usually when I take my temp in the morning, it is 97.5-97.7. This morning it was 98.5. Is that normal or could I be pregnant? Also, do if you take your temp during the day...say around 11 a.m., then again at 2 p.m. and the temps are high, could that be a sign of pregnancy? My usual temps are 97.5- 97.7 throughout the day.

My temp during the day is normally way higher than the one I take each morning and mark on my chart - I think that's normal; that's why it's important to take your temp at the same time each day, for consistency.

Temps above the coverline after ovulation are a good thing, but when you're 5DPO it's a little early to be able to say what is going on... however if you have taken your temp at the same time you usually do, and if your temp continues to increase, then it COULD be an indicator of pregnancy! If your temperature generally starts falling at say 11-12DPO, but this cycle it continues to rise, then there is a good chance you could be pregnant.

As a general rule, the only temp you want to pay attention to, with regards to fertility charting, is the first one you take on waking, because a lot of things can change your temp during the day

best of luck!

One high temp doesn't really mean anything, it's the overall pattern that matters. So, are you wondering if it's normal for the thermal shift to occur at 5DPO or if it's normal to have a SECOND temp rise at 5DPO?

Temps taken later in the day are irrelevant, because your daily activity will automatically raise your basal body temperature. Just go by your waking temperature as this is the most accurate for fertility evaluation purposes.

Hope you get your BFP soon!
