Every time someone makes reference to "charting as bc" it makes me giggle. Charting does nothing to prevent pregnancy. Charts are not BC. LOL It's what you DO with the charting information that can prevent pregnancy - using scientifically verified guidelines for defining the parameters of fertility, and then either abstaining during times of fertility to eliminate the possibility of conception (NFP) or using protection to reduce the chances of conception (FAM).

My over-active imagination makes me think of people using charts as barriers during BDing or something. LOL

You know what's funny is charting doesn't help a whole lot with TTC either!! By the time you see the temp rise, you already Oed and it's too late to get in some BDing. I use it as more of a guide. Especially with compairing past charts and patterns. My main goal with charting is to see the whole process working together, to identify possible issues such as LP defect, verify O and confirm pg or prepare for AF's arrival. I find everything quite exciting and I love to see the body working together.

Well, charting BBT's doesn't help a whole lot with TTC....but charting cervical mucus does! Several different systems of charting rely on CM observations only for the very fact that temps don't predict ovulation, just confirm it after the fact. Examples of mucus only systems are the Billings Ovulation Method, the Creighton Model, Family of the Americas Ovulation Method.
