How often do you redo your budget? Seriously? Almost every day. Or at least every few days. I am obsessed with getting us out of debt! I keep track of every penny spent and I add to that every day that we do spend something.

What kinds of things will prompt you to redo your budget? Finding out the exact amount we get paid (it changes constantly thanks to full commission sales), unexpected bills, and any other change you can think of.

Do you tweek it or completely start over? Tweak it.

I never thought about the changing pay. Being military my pay is stable unless I get a raise so I forget about changes like that. Thanks for the info, at least I know I am not crazy for constantly going over it and wanting to update it all the time.

You're not crazy. Or maybe we're both crazy. LOL. Dh gets paid 3 months out so we know a rough estimate of what he is going to get paid, but not an exact amount. I budget down to the dollar so obviously any change is going to switch it up. I kindof love budgeting. It's weird. LOL.

I actually don't re-do unless something comes up. Example, I had to get a new car so I had to re-do because now I have a car payment. DD will go to a new school in the fall, so I will re-do before then on account of that. Also, if anything unexpected or large comes up, that will prompt me to re-do.

Other than that, we make the same amount each month, so there's no need to change. If there is an over-time or more money made, it just goes into savings so we don't tweak the budget.

I will say the budget is pretty comprehensive and includes every little thing, so there's really no need to re-do it absent a big change.

I tweak the budget a few times a month. Now that at least 2 of the kiddos have asthma, I have had to up our "medical" allowance. Plus we get unexpected bills and such.
DH gets paid hourly, so some weeks are better than others, and I never know exactly how much he will make (which bugs the crap out of me lol), so I have to kind of guess when I do the monthly budget, then adjust as the weeks go on.
As a matter of fact, I just did May's budget today

How often do you redo your budget? Monthly, but if something comes up during the month we sit down and talk about it and will change it when necessary

What kinds of things will prompt you to redo your budget? Emergency comes up, coupons at Costco, sales on meats (we have a deep freezer and can stock up), etc.

Do you tweek it or completely start over? Just adjust it, never been a reason to start over.
