I really want to get serious about making a budget and paying off our debt more efficiently.

I was on his website and found this:

Dave's Starter Special - 2 Bestsellers plus DVD Video Lessons and Envelope System

For those that have used his methods, how worth it would you say it is to pay for this? Or is there something else you would suggest?

I know I've never posted on this board before, but I've lurked for a while and am envious of you ladies who are so good at this!

I wouldn't pay for it. I have read his Total Money Makeover and while I enjoyed reading it, I didn't learn anything new from it. I had already been reading different things on the internet and knew how I needed to pay off our debt, we just needed to DO IT!

We started getting serious about it 4 years ago and since then have paid off $60K of debt from credit cards, car loans, airplane loan, student loans, and our mortgage as well as paid CASH for about $10K worth of home repairs/upgrades.

I posted on this board quite frequently in the past, but only peek in every once in awhile now. But if you want help setting up a budet/debt payoff plan, I'd be happy to help.

Just check his books or CDs out from your local library.

I've even heard him say on the radio more than once to go check out his books from the library! I've read the total money makeover, and it has a lot of good info in it.

I have the book but haven't really read it. I think I am going to start and try it out

I would also just check it out at your local library I wish I had done that

I have friends that have helped me figure it out without buying the books. Getting it from the library is a great idea. I like the envelope system. When we were saving money for the downpayment for our house it worked great. I wish we had never stopped using it. I could be debt free right now .
