How did or are you learning about financial planning and budgeting?

For us, it's been a trial of fire. We started off well, then the economy tanked and now we are still clawing our way out. The end is near, though. Soon!

I like Larry Burkett - I first started reading his books with Women Leaving the Workplace when I lost my job and was staying at home. I really like him.

I haven't really followed one person in particular, we created our own budget and use the envelope system. It's a bit of trial and error.

We follow Dave Ramsey the most, but tweak it to work for us. Honestly I find most financial planning and budgeting common sense more than following any one person.

We talked to friends and family, researched online and just picked a system that we thought would work for us. We tweak it to work for our situtaion and go from there adjusting as we need to. Overall it works well for us when we stick to it .
