How do you track the debt you are currently working on?
Do you watch it online or just in your ledger or with statements each month?

I have a notebook with a page for the mortgage and a page for each of our student loans. Each month I write down what principle was paid and the new balance. I also keep a page for the current total as well as a page that lists the total starting from July 1, 2007-now, going by every 6 months.

I watch everything online but also keep it all written down. I had it back a bit but it got wet and ruined so I had to start over. I like being able to see online what was paid to interest and what was paid to principal without waiting for a statement.

I have a spreadsheet that I don't like looking at. It includes my fixed and variable expenses. I also watch my accounts online

I'm an online person--I was keeping a written record for a while because the DH kept saying he liked being able to look at it and see where we are but he never looked at the darn thing so I stopped updating it He only gets the bug to see our finances a few times a year and its easy for me to pull the numbers and show him. I do keep a written calendar with due dates and things so if he ever does need to take over making some payments or something, its organized and ready to go and should be relatively easy for him to handle. He is so not a finance person....

DH does the finances better than I do, but we watch everything online mostly and DH writes down anything he is specifically working on especially at tax time when we have a little extra to pay something down or off
