Did your parents teach you about managing money?
Did they talk to you about their money?
Do you know how your parents did their budget?
What lessons did you take with you as an adult?

Did your parents teach you about managing money? Yes. My mom (until she got remarried when I was 12) never used credit cards and always pushed for "save for a rainy day".

Did they talk to you about their money? Not really THEIR money, but money in general, how to save, don't spend everything you make, etc.

Do you know how your parents did their budget? No.

What lessons did you take with you as an adult? Always save part of what you make. Never spend everything in your paycheck, save for a "rainy day". Live within your means.

My mom thinks she told us how to budget but really she had the most wonky system I still couldn't tell you how she paid the bills. And my dad and her had two different philosophies on money. I learned that DH and I need to communicate .

Did your parents teach you about managing money? A little. My mom taught me how to balance a checkbook and made us save money that we received as gifts, but I think more could have been done.

Did they talk to you about their money? Not really

Do you know how your parents did their budget? Nope

What lessons did you take with you as an adult? Not enough

My parents made good money, but spent it in not the best ways. Instead of paying the bills or saving, we went on a lot of vacations. It was fun, but you could tell they were always stressed about money. They argued a lot about money because they had different ideas on what to spend it on. My mom did teach me how to shop the clearance racks and sales, though.

Did your parents teach you about managing money? She thinks she did!

Did they talk to you about their money? Yes, when I turned 17 she got my first credit card.

Do you know how your parents did their budget? Yes. Spending 100% of what she made.

What lessons did you take with you as an adult? I had a $200 week walmart addiction I had to break. I had no concept of saving and eating out was a priority. My parents where very involved in keeping up with their siblings buy buy buy. I am a bit on the outside of my family because I live frugally, I am poor and I don't think my kids will shrivle up and die if I don't take them to DisneyWorld!

Did your parents teach you about managing money? Yes, my mother did
Did they talk to you about their money? Yes she did
Do you know how your parents did their budget? My mother lived pay check to pay check but everything was always paid on time and she saved what she could
What lessons did you take with you as an adult? Making payments on time and realizing the things that are more important
