Do you have some things that are more important than your budget?

We have a budget, but it is not super strict like it was when we were paying off debt. Sometimes we go over. It's not the end of the world for us, but we try not to let it happen often.

Do you have some things that are more important than your budget? Nope, I re-do the budget each month so what is on there is what IS important so there's no reason for us to break it since it is done and changed monthly.

My budget is really strict. We paid short on the electric bill. We are planning to catch up next month with the 20 degree drop in temps here. My mom is flying into town to pick up my son's ex girl friend and their baby and driving back to her home. So even though it is $30 in gas and $20 MacDonald's we are making that budget blow out because she lives 1000 miles away. Any way $50 doesn't sound like much but it is 1/6th of our cash income.

Our budget is in such a state of flex right now with a new baby and changes to expenses like daycare that we are redoing it as things are changing. So we are making adjustments to the point that its not "blowing" the budget if that makes sense. Many of the changes are sticking around for a bit anyway .

I keep my budget flexible. But if I overspend one month, I go without things (luxuries not necessities) next month to cover.

I try to overestimate our expenses and underestimate our income so that if we have something extra pop up, like a meal out (rare) or something fun to do that our budget isn't really affected.

I need to sit down and actually create a budget. After the bills are paid, I just spend as I please
