Well I guess its a good thing we aren't following our budget yet since I just got our gas bill. Its $54 for the month. Our gas bill is usually single digits since only my stove, water heater and heater heater run off of it. Sent dh to lowes to get some weather stripping for the doors and some of that shrink wrap stuff for the fireplace doors (our flue is stuck open).

YIKES! If it's usually in the single digits, then that IS a big jump!

I honestly have no clue what ours is. That comes from dh's check. He pays the mortgage and bills, I buy all the groceries and pay for misc expenses. Personally, I think my job is more fun!!

I'm jealous of you $54! Ours runs $90 on the good months.

Wow, $54 is closer to our summer gas bill. This month's is $158. I'm not looking forward to next month's bill, as we've had ice and temps in the teens/twenties for a week now.

That doesn't include electricity. Our electricity in CA is much more expensive than our gas. My gas bill is usually around $10 in the summer and our electricity usually runs around $250! In the winter, gas is usually around $50, but electricity is around $120! So our total energy bills, on a good month, total around $170. On a summer month, around $260. And I have an energy efficient house!!!

ditto above...you also have to remember that in southern california my heat normally only comes on a handful of days during the winter...this year it is running everyday and all through-out the day to maintain 65 degrees inside.

During the winter, it is nothing for us to get a $300 gas bill.
