If Trevor has a bad dream, he is too scared to go back to sleep and he jumps at any and all shadows.... like extremely paranoid of anything and everything. Have any of your kids ever been like this? How do you handle it? He did it this morning at 4:30 am and I had to leave for work around 5. He has already called me like 20 times and managed to wake up my 3 year old, my 9 month old and my husband. I just want to see how normal this is because I am seriously thinking of taking him to see someone next year. I keep hoping it is something he will outgrow, and it doesn't happen often but it is sure extreme when it does.

Lyric used to have a lot of bad dreams when she was younger but she doesn't seem to have them anymore....only every once in awhile and if she does she will come in my bed.

Tyler wakes up screaming a lot, but luckily he is able to fall back asleep again, sometimes I have to sit in bed with him tho and rub his back for a few minutes.

Ari has bad dreams and she used to wet her bed because she was so scared to get up and go to the bathroom. We always have to pray that she won't have a scary dream right before bed and it always works!

Nathaniel sometimes says he is scared of going to sleep because he doesn't want to have a bad dream.. So we got dreamcatchers for the rooms, and he has been good to go since. When ever he says something about them we talk about what the dreamcatcher is supposed to do. He also has a tatanka pillow from SD (buffalo pillow) and he has a stuffed dog that he sleeps with.

Hi, I lurk here every so often and wanted to add.

I have adhd and also have been on and off antidepressants and my younger sister has as well. We have BOTH had HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE nightmares. Even now as an adult I can wake from one and be terrified. It will take me FOREVER to go back to sleep and often have woken my husband to comfort me until I can get back to sleep. Our doctor has said this was because of anxiety issues (which is what the anti-d was for). IF it doesn't get better or gets worse, that could be a cause. If he has any other anxiety or paranoia issues, it could be!

Just wanted to lend my experience.
