...about my DH not the kids. DH has ADD and has since he was a kid. He takes Ritalin (sp?) and it does wonders. However he is feeling a little "slow lately".

Do any of you know if he cuts his meds in half will it still last for 4 hours? He is wanting to lessen his dose to see if it is still effective and does not make him feel "slow". (He is thinking he is over medicated)

Thanks for any help!!!

If his medicine is extended release please do not have him cut it in half and take it! He may end up getting too much of the dose all at once instead of a little over the whole day.

I would talk to his Dr. about changing meds.

Def talk to the dr about it. The catch with extended release meds is by breaking them in half or opening the capsule you risk the person getting more of the meds released at once vs it slowly dissolving. I would just ask the dr to see about trying half the dosage.
