Hi, I have been lurking on this forum this morning. And I have a question.
First of all, I have a 10 y/o DS and 10 y/o DSS (both live with us), 3 y/o DS and another boy on the way.
My son seems out of control at times. As long as I don't tell him to do chores or homework (basically if I leave him alone) he us fine. But if I make him do his homework or chores then he starts acting out. Starts arguing with his step brother over the silliest of things which can turn into hitting if I don't intervene. He "forgets" his homework alot but all in all is a good kid. He plays sports, which he loves, and rarely gets in trouble at school. Mainly, his issue at school is that he tells his teacher a lie about why he doesn't have his homework and lies to me about not having any. (this is being corrected now as the teacher and I are on the same page now). We never had issues with him until 1st grade when they started to get 'real' homework. I thought that this was normal "boy" behavior but I am starting to think there is another culprit here. He has never been tested for ADD/ADHD and no one has ever mentioned anything about it to me either.
I do not want to medicate my son if at all possible so I have been looking online for things I can try before resorting to taking him to the doctor for help. I have read information about changing his diet and that could help the issue. Where do I find this list? I do not feel I should have to pay for this list as the Feingold group seems to want me to do.
Does anyone know where I can find this information at? Any other suggestions as well instead of medicating?
