How old was your child when they got diagnosed?
What led you to get your child tested?
Is your child on medication or do you use other means to try to help them control themselves?

How old was your child when they got diagnosed? Robbie was 5 when he was diagnosed.

What led you to get your child tested? His unruly behavior in the doctor's offices we were visiting and that they were starting to notice that he was impulsive, hyper and just wasn't able to process anything because he was so wound.

Is your child on medication or do you use other means to try to help them control themselves? Robbie is on Concerta right now. He was on Adderall and that just stopped working well due to the insomnia that he started to have.

How old was your child when they got diagnosed?
Marcus was 5, Megan was 8.
What led you to get your child tested?
I have add. And i have problems with it. So meg is so much like me. With Marcus, I had a super hard time with my ex about wanting to help him with it. It ended up waiting until I moved out. Then his teacher, who was awesome and sweet, sat me down and told me (she was actually crying she was so concerned about him) how much trouble he was having, and how bad it made him feel to not be able to succeed in school. Really opened my eyes!
The first day he was on meds, he came home, and showed me the note with how good he did in school. He was SO proud of himself!! It made me cry. I can't believe I waited. And i wonder how much better he would have done if i hadn't.

Is your child on medication or do you use other means to try to help them control themselves?
Marcus is on meds. His adhd is just too severe. One thing that hit home with me once, is he said "i WANT to sit still and be good, my body just won't let me!" And i think that was truly accurate.
Megan isnt. It's not severe, and she seems to do ok in school. If things change, we'll check it out. We just use methods to keep her organized and do our best to ignore the temper!
