hello, i'm new here my dd has been on adderral for 3 weeks now the doc started her on 5mg extended release capsule. We give it to her around 7am, it seems that the effect is gone 1:30 or 2. her next doc appt is nov 29, we run out of pills on nov 24. should i call to reschedule appt and talk about upping dose?
we used adderall for awhile when we first put lex on add meds. we had great results with it, but like you said, it seemed to wear off in the afternoon. our doc switched her to vyvanse because of this; he said it is comparable to adderall, but lasts longer. she has done very well on vyvanse, and we dont have the issue with it wearing off anymore. she has been on vyvanse for about 3 years now and still does great.
Yes I would call and reschedule your appointment. Taking her on and off the medicine sends kids for loop, and any side effect she gets the first day or two will happen again while her system gets used to not being on the med, then being on the med again. And I agree with PP that Vyvanse has done with my son a lot better. He takes it at 6:30 or so, it's in his sytem when he walks out the door for the bus, and wears off around 6-7pm. She may not need a higher dose, but a different medicine.
