Hi all! My name is Linda. I am a single mom of 3. My oldest, Alex, is 6 and has high functioning autism and mild ADHD. My soon to be adopted daughter, Katie (biologically my niece), is 5 and has pFAS (partial fetal alcohol syndrome) and I am in the process of getting her tested for ADHD (which goes along with the pFAS, so I know she has it, but have to get an actual ADHD diagnosis to start meds). And my soon to be adopted son, Aiden (biologically my nephew), is 2 and is already showing signs of ADHD (and will eventually most likely be diagnosed with pFAS as well).
I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was nine and was on meds until I was 16 (because I was a teenager and thought I no longer needed them, which I really did). Got back on meds when I was 23 after a few horrible years making impulse decisions and not being able to sit through anything.
I was on ritalin for years but when I started back on them it just wasn't a good fit any more so now I am on adderall. Alex's ADHD is controlled well with sensory tools and a minimal sugar diet.
I look forward to getting to know all of you better and hope to get this board going.
