I'm back.. My name is Susan. My son is 4 1/2 and diagnosed with ADHD. He is all over the place, no focus and very impulsive! We are in the process of trialing different medications for him. So far Focalin showed a slight benefit... and i mean slight. We tried Ritalin and did not like the side effects. We tried increasing the dose of Focalin and did not like the side effects. This weekend we are going to try Adderall.. fingers crossed. This has been a several month process and it is very trying!!

I have also been reading up alot of the benefits of flaxseed oil... benefits for adhd children, as well as other health benefits. So in January, we are giving that a try, as well as cutting down on sugars in his diet.

As far as the holidays go.. we really made sure our plans worked for our son. We had Christmas Eve at our home.. very casual. Kept it with immediate family (all of whom understand our situation) and cousins (which there are alot but the children had a great time!) Andrew does get very excited and runs around but they all do! Tried to keep everything in perspective. Family seems to understand which helps alot! Christmas day was quiet and casual, at my sisters, who is an OT and understands my son completely!! Overall I'd say it was successful.. we are trying to be very positive in 2012 and hope to see lots of progress.

I forgot to do mine in my original post, so here it goes.
Who's all here this month...
Name? Linda
How the holidays went? The holidays went fine. Alex had a huge meltdown the day after Christmas which was to be expected with the sensory overload from the previous days and the change in routine
Any plans for January, anything exciting happening? Working on getting this board active once again, Aidens birthday is this month, he will be 3 years old (he's not my little baby any more ), and working on the house.

How the holidays went? the holidays were great, the children had a wonderful time and we managed to spend time with extended family which was fantastic. The only bummer was that my car engine called it quits on Christmas day
Any plans for January, anything exciting happening? Hopefully I will be getting a new car. The children are back to school next week, I think they are really excited to get back to all of their school mates

Hi. I'm Cheyenne. I'm new to the board. I have a 7 year old little boy who is profoundly gifted and has ADHD. Holidays were fine. Managed to balance family activities and down time, so no melt downs. In Jan, kiddo is in school, finishing my own classes, building a great new freindship with my neighbor and enjoying his kids and mine.
