I have been on JM on and off for a while and I miss the support so here I am. I am Brittainy and my 6 year old is ADHD, He is hyperactive and has major impulse control issues. He is on concerta and currently in therapy to help with the impulse control, but I am re-evaluating the need for it, because he is not having the same issues he had when I wanted him to start.
I have a question though, he does well in school but is struggling with handwriting and story writing. I think it may be because he rushes through it... Does anyone have any tips for helping him improve his handwriting and story writing without the fight?
Thank you *Kiliki* for once again doing such amazing work on a siggie
I can do all things through Christ which Strengtheneth me. (Phil 4:13)
My DS is ADHD, with SPD (SID), TLE and he is dyslexic.
There are / have been studies regarding a link (co-morbidity) between ADHD and Dyslexia and might be something you want to look into since he is struggling with his handwriting. Is is difficult to test for dyslexia, but an OT or even Speech Therapist might be able to give you some insight.
There are different types of multi-sensory therpaies that can be used to aid with handwriting, but this (at least here) is something directed at an OT.
