Hiya.

Your hospital may do things differently than my own did, but with my c-section I couldn't eat anything...no food or drink, after midnight the night before, and my surgery was scheduled for 7:30 am. I had to be AT the hospital by 6 am.

If you experience nausea at any point, they can treat that for you!!!

*edited to add* One of the side effects of the spinal and some meds they give you can be nausea, so they prefer to not have anything in your stomach, I think it makes it easier for them to treat which is important...no one wants to be heaving all over the place while someone is standing on the other end of the table with a scalpel!!

You won't starve. I ate all the time up till the last couple weeks of pregnancy and I was so full all the time. I didnt eat after midnight with my others but I could drink water. Now after I had the kiddos and was all awake and feeling better I was STARVING and put away two meals lol.

The "norm" is nothing after midnight the day of your cesarean. You'll be fine You'll probably be so nervous that you won't even want to eat

Ditto! I eat right away when I get up know, but I remember with my other two that I was so nervous/excited eating was not on my mind at all. I was nauseous and did vomit/dry heave with both my c-sections so it was a good thing I did not eat. This time I am hoping to get something before or during my c-section so it does not happen again.

I'm worried about getting me some food too

I'm worried about before and after!

I was told by the person who scheduled my c-section, not to eat after midnight the night before. My surgery is scheduled at 1pm... I will starve!!! But my OB said if I'm up around 5 or 6am, I can eat a LIGHT breakfast and should be fine. So, I'll probably have a light breakfast... I'm sure I'll be up that early anyway because I won't bea ble to sleep!

With my first c-section, I know I was supposed to be one a "liquid" diet for a bit afterwards, but they messed up and brought me lasagna and green beans for lunch just a short 4 hours after Brinlee was born. I was starving, and I ate it all up, I didn't have any problems nor did I feel sick.

I don't want a liquid diet, I want some food

My sister just had a c-section 3 weeks ago, her son was born at 1:30am and she had a liquid breakfast... but a normal lunch.

I might have to have DH sneak me in some dinner after my c-section (it's scheduled for 1pm) because I figured they'd want dinner to be a liquid diet and then I can resume normal foods at breakfast the next morning. But if I'm feeling well and hungry, you better bet DH is getting me something to eat!

I was going in for an induction so I ate and drank. Once they knew I was going for a c-section they made me stop drinking... but I had food and drink in me and it didn't affect my surgery in any way. The hardest part for me was the liquid diet after my surgery. YUCK.

If you can get the first surgery of the day, go for it. With my middle child, my c/s wasn't scheduled until 11, and it was awful! With my DD, my c/s was scheduled at 8am, so I didn't notice it at all.

My section was scheduled for 2PM and I was instructed to not eat or drink anything (including water) after midnight the night before my surgery. I was so anxious that eating wasn't on my mind, though I did sneak in a few sips of water because I was so thirsty.

I was so hungry the day of my c-section. I didn't eat from 9 the night before (I got busy and then went to sleep). My c-section was scheduled for noon. My doctor said that even though they say no food or drinks after midnight, they say that for everyone no matter when the surgery during the day. He said I could eat up to 4 (8 hours before), but I didn't. I would do what your doctor says. At 11:30, the nerves got me and I was so uncomfortable and hungry. I just went to the bathroom and tried to keep myself busy because that's all you can do. DH did go get fast food that morning and I thought I would be really jealous, but I was so nervous that it didn't bother me to smell it.

I don't recall hunger being a problem for me before my C-Section. My section was scheduled for 7:30 AM and I had to be at the hospital at 6 AM. I made sure to eat before I went to bed but didn't stay up till midnight or anything. A few hours after my section I was given lunch (section done around 8:30 AM lunch brought in around 11 AM) and ate it all up!
