Did anyone else have a uterus that took a long time to go down? I am 3 weeks post partum and it seems to have been stuck 1/2 way up inbetween my belly button and pubic bone. My ob said it should have pretty much gone down by around 2 weeks. It's been nice and firm although she did prescribe methergine last week to try to help it shrink(which I don't think it did) So I am a little concerned and my ob is baffled. I just wonder if it's going to take longer since this was c-section #5.

I didn't have that problem... so I'm not really any help... I hope the dr figures it out soon, or your uterus decides to be good & shrink!

Same thing happened to me! My daughter is almost 3 months old and you can still feel my uterus, mostly on the right side. My doctor thinks it might be stuck to my abdominal wall or just taking longer to go down because I've had a lot of kids in the past few years.

Have you had an u/s or anything? My ob said that is the next step then maybe a d&c but I will refuse the d&c for awhile as long as there is no sign of infection and the bleeding doesn't go hay wire. I am still bleeding, usually when doing too much then it will stop when I relax and try to take it easy. Are you just in the wait and see what it does mode? My uterus is probably like the size of 14-16 weeks pregnant as it's 1/2 way up and it is really firm and hard so I guess that is a good sign that it's not relaxed and bleeding profusely. It all just has me annoyed because I can't fit into my pants yet! lol

My doctor doesn't think a ultrasound is necessary yet. I've had a lot of babies(and close together), so chances are it's just taking a while to go down. I think my pp bleeding stopped around 5 weeks. He also thinks there could be some scar tissue that made it adhere to the abdominal wall. He said if that's the case there really isn't much you can do. I could have surgery to try to remove the scar tissue but that could create the same problem again. So I'm just waiting to see what happens.

It stayed about 16 weeks in size until a couple of weeks ago and now it's about 12 weeks in size. I think if it drops down much more in size I won't be able to feel it anymore. I really hope it's just a time thing.

I asked my regular doctor to feel the area a couple of days ago(for a 2nd opinion) to see if he thought it was anything else. He said it just felt like my uterus was hanging on and mostly to the right side. He said it wasn't a concern.

It's good that your uterus is firm. That's a good sign that things will be okay. Especially if your bleeding is not that much. Try gently massaging it once a day.
