I was just wondering how your doctor closed you incision. My doctor used staples, but some of the other doctors at the same hospital use stitches.

I dug up some older threads for you hun.

http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f2...s-staples.html (Stitches or staples?)
http://www.justmommies.com/forums/f2...0-staples.html (Staples)

Staples tend to be the most popular, they are faster for them to put in, stitches take a little longer. We have a few moms on here that have had Dermabond, which is basically super glue for skin.

I've had staples with 3, stitches with one, and I'm assuming I'm having staples this round too. I actually prefer the staples, the one time I had stitches, I did have a bit of infection, a couple of the got stuck, and I had to make a seperate appt to have them removed unlike the staples which were removed before leaving the hospital.

I had staples for the initial closure, but when it split open and got infected, I got stitches for the re-closure.

Stitches internally. Steri-strips for closure on the outside.

Ditto. I had no problems with mine. In fact it looked healed after just a week.

For my C section they stitched me inside and out. I had a hematoma/bleeding the next day because I had pneumonia and basically popped a stitch so I was reclosed (thank God!) and they used staples.

Glue and Steri Strips. I couldn't believe how good it looked even the morning after and it still looks great almost 10 months later.

I said other, but really all of the above. I had stitches internally, and staples externally. They took the staples out my last day in the hospital and put on steri stripes.

I had staples with my first and stitches/steri strips with my other two and will with this baby too, as I'll have the same doctor. I prefer the stitches - I think I healed better & it was nicer to not have them removed (they were dissolvable.)

I had staples. My dr forgot to remove them before they let me go home. I had to go into her office a couple days later to get them out. It was too bad.
