Has anyone bought their own post partum abdominal band for support? I have had so many people recommend it to me but my dr said it'd be cheaper for me to buy my own then to order through the hospital, so now I'm stuck trying to figure out what brand would be best! If I don't feel like guessing I may just go through the hospital after all, but if you ladies could help me out and let me know what brand you got (if you did) that would be great!

The hospital provided me w/ one. Not sure if all do that, but it worked great. I took it home and washed it a few times, b/c it does get gunky from the incision and it started to fray from washing it in the washing machine. But it lasted till I didn't need it anymore. Maybe you can ask them in the hospital to give you one?

I don't remember a brand but it shouldn't be that expensive. It's just an elastic wrap w/ velcro at the end. I did hear great things about the belly bandit but that's a bit pricey $45-50. If money is not an issue I would get that one. But I am frugal so I would just take the hospitals.

Wow.. so glad you posted. I'm going to have to look into this. My doctor who delivered the first two said I shouldn't use one and risk compressing on the incision, but I really want to use one this time.

I was thinking about just using my Be bands - very soft, easily washable. But they're very light support - don't know if it's enough.

I bought the Medela Postpartum Support online. My hospital did not supply me with one, or even mention it. It helped a lot and the one I ordered was actually a little too big on me so I was surprised it still worked so great. I remember trying to roll over in bed was almost impossible right after my c-section until I started sleeping in one of these! Not sure how much hospital ones are, but mine was about $20 on Amazon.

I've never heard of this but if I ever have another baby I think I would want one. I just held my incision with my hands or a pillow for the first few days.

I received one for both of my C sections at the hospital. I really loved it for the first couple of weeks when you feel like you can barely move or something is gonna open up! I didn't really use one after that.
