I'm having my second section in a month. Can anyone tell me how soon after you started just walking? I know aerobic exercise is okay after 6-8 weeks, but how about going for a walk? Thanks!

Right away. They even encouraged me to walk the halls in the hospital. They told me "take the baby and push your baby once around the halls - if you can twice a day". It helps the healing process as far as I understand. Just don't overdo it. Short distances are good. Good luck w/ your C-section next month. How exciting!

I was encouraged to walk in the hospital. My OB sent me home with instructions to walk around my neighborhood at least once a day with the baby.

They had me walking the very next day. They wanted me to walk a lot. The water dispenser thing was at the very end of the hall and I walked to it probably 10 times a day, back and forth. They told me not to overdo it, but they encouraged walking.

They had me out of bed and walking around my room and the L&D floor as soon as my spinal block wore off. If I wanted a drink or anything from the family kitchen I had to get it myself or get DH or a guest to get it because the nurses wouldn't.

Light walking is fine right away. Longer/faster paced walking is a different story. Make sure to listen to your body!
