With my first c/s I was given dissolvable stitches. I double checked with my dr that she will be doing those again since I absolutely do NOT want staples and she said she uses something different now but is still dissolvable. (I had so many questions to ask her that appt that I didn't even bother to ask her what it is that she uses now). But after some research I'm sure she is probably using dermabond which is a glue type product, although I will ask at my next appt just to be sure. Anyone have experience with this? One of it's ingredients if formaldehyde, not sure how I feel about that :/

I was glued. Yes it is dissolvable. You heal faster and I hardly have a scar. It's there but you really can't tell. As for whats in the glue I'm not sure because my C/S was not planned. I was half out of it so I had no clue why the doc glued me instead of giving me staples. I had no problems, I just had to be really careful. Hope this helped a little. Congrats on the little one!

I had internal stitches and glue on the exterior (thought I had staples for the first week with my first child and staples for just four day with my second)

You can request anything you want to!! I certainly would if I was faced with metal staples! My Dr actually used dissolvable staples this time around...when researching it I had some questions about it and when I was asking her she said if I didn't feel comfortable with them she could use the dissolvable stitches again like she did with my first. You're the patient, so ask for what you want!
