Hi ladies,

I have my first post partum appt next Wednesday (4 weeks). What should I expect? I had disolvable stiches so I won't have to have anything taken out. I am sure they will check the insion site and all...what else will they do?

TIA

Missy

I had mine at 2 weeks PP and then again at 6 weeks PP- so I'm guessing they will do the same thing they did for me at my 6 weeks PP appt. They checked my incision and then did an internal exam to make sure everything was ok there. We talked about birth control choices, checked my blood pressure and talked about how I was feeling and how I felt about having a c-section. I also had mild post partum depression, so we talked a lot about that. Other then that, not much else happened- it was a pretty quick visit.

ditto what she said... mine were at 2 & 6 weeks. Unless you're having another followup appointment, I'd suspect it's just like a yearly pap exam. You'll talk about birth control, make sure everything is healing properly etc. If you're still having pp bleeding, call ahead to make sure. If they're doing a pap test, they'll need you to wait until the bleeding stops to get an accurate swab.
